Valerie J. Elsbree, M.S.W., L.C.S.W., C.A.P.

Welcome and Congratulations...

on taking the first step to improving your life! My name is Valerie Elsbree and I am a licensed psychotherapist in private practice in Oakland Park, Florida. I have a Master’s Degree in Social Work and I am a Certified Addictions Professional. I have 20+ years of experience in the therapy field, providing counseling to adults and adolescents through individual, couples, family and group modalities. Our culturally diverse Counseling Center provides direct therapeutic services to all men, women and adolescents from all walks of life.

One of my goals during the therapy process is to provide a safe, trusting, confidential and nurturing environment so my clients feel comfortable exploring areas of their lives that may be causing them emotional, mental, spiritual, physical, or sexual pain or distress. This pain or distress may oftentimes block or prevent a person from reaching joy and the freedom to achieve their full potential.

I provide therapy for people struggling with various types of addictions, such as, alcohol, drugs, food, sex, codependency, gambling, etc. In addition, those experiencing challenges in their relationships with their partners/spouses, those experiencing depression, anxiety, domestic violence, eating disorders, grief/loss issues, past or current traumas, codependency in their relationships, and GLBT and related issues.

The process to begin therapy would start with calling to schedule an appointment for a free initial consultation which is approximately 30 minutes in length. The initial consult is primarily designed to meet with one another to see if you feel comfortable with me and to identify whether or not the problems or issues that you present is within my area of expertise. If it is not, then I would give you a referral to a licensed clinician more suited to help you. If the issue you present is within my area of expertise then we would make an appointment for you to return for a full, in-depth counseling assessment. From the results of the in-depth assessment, recommendations would then be discussed with you as to the treatment plan appropriate to meet your needs and achieve the goals you set out to achieve during your counseling experience.

Again, congratulations for being proactive in improving your life, relationship, and/or family. I don’t believe we are able to get a feel for a person through a website, and choosing a therapist is a very personal and private endeavor, so please don’t hesitate to contact me by phone (954) 579-3049 to discuss any questions or concerns you may have regarding your private counseling experience. Thank you and I look forward to getting to know you.
